Tourists
Although Egypt is called “Paradise on Earth,” even here you cannot do without knowledge of the laws and rules for a calm, carefree stay in the country.
What you need to know before your trip
Local time
The time difference between Moscow and Egypt is minus 1 hour in the winter season and coincides with Moscow in the summer.
Visa
The cost of a visa to visit Hurghada is $25; if you are traveling to Sharm El Sheikh and do not intend to leave it, then the Sinai visa is issued free of charge. If you want to visit, for example, Cairo, you need to purchase a visa for $25.
Money
Although we call Egypt paradise on earth, here, unfortunately, you can’t do without money. The national currency of Egypt is the Egyptian pound. The banknotes depict ancient temples of Egypt or mosques, the inscriptions on the banknotes are made in Arabic and English. On price tags, L.E. is written after the number. There are 100 piastres in one pound. Exchange rate per dollar: ~30 L.E.
DUTY FREE stores
In duty-free shops DUTY FREE purchases are made with a passport and during their stay in the country tourists can purchase 1 bottle of spirits within the first two days from the moment of entry into Egypt.
Telephone
Egypt's international code is +20, Sharm El-Sheikh's area code is (69). The international code of Russia is +7 (or 007), then dial your city code and subscriber number. From Russia they will be able to call you by dialing +20-69 (or 8-10-20-69), then the hotel phone number and telling the operator the number of the room in which you are staying.
Why is a safe needed?
To avoid troubles, it is better to store your passport, documents and valuables in a hotel safe. You just need to take a copy of your identification document with you, which you can do at the hotel reception. The situation in the country is calm, but in order not to overshadow your holiday, we recommend remaining vigilant outside the hotel, especially with people you do not know. After all, cases of fraud and deception of money from tourists are not uncommon. As you walk around the city along souvenir shops and shops, try to be patient with merchants offering you goods or services, even if they do not interest you. Try not to get into conflicts, because the oriental style of sales is not always familiar to us.
Internet
Many hotels provide free Wi-Fi in the lobby or throughout the property. You can find out information about the availability of Internet in your hotel room and its prices at the reception desk or from your hotel representative.
Bathing
Swimming in the Red Sea after sunset is prohibited. The same applies to swimming in pools; they are sanitized after sunset. Avoid swimming on an empty stomach or immediately after eating. It is prohibited to swim during a storm. It is prohibited to swim while intoxicated.
Water
In hot weather, you need to drink enough clean drinking water. Tap water is not suitable for drinking. You can buy bottled drinking water at any store. It is also recommended to clean your teeth with drinking water.
Insurance
We, of course, want nothing to spoil your holiday, but just in case, you need to know what to do if an insured event occurs? When an insured event occurs, you must first call the insurance company at the telephone numbers specified in the insurance policy and register the event. Then follow the coordinator's instructions. When calling, you must state in full: your name, number and validity period of the insurance policy; the place where you are and the hotel; and provide a detailed description of the problem encountered and the type of assistance required.
Check out from the hotel
On the day of departure from the hotel, go to the hotel reception and make sure that all your bills are paid (in case you used additional hotel services), if not, pay. You must hand over your room key before 12:00. If you lose your room key, meal cards, towels or safe key, you may be charged for them. If the hotel has rooms available, you may be able to extend your stay for an additional fee. A request to extend your number must be made the evening before.
